Mr. Shams-ud-din Shah is a CFA charterholder and Fellow Member of ACCA, with over eleven years of experience across investment management, research, and financial analysis. He is currently serving as Head of Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) at Alfalah Investments, a position he has held since October 2025.
In his current role, Mr. Shah is responsible for managing discretionary investment mandates and delivering customized portfolio solutions aligned with client objectives, risk profiles, and prevailing market conditions. He works closely with the investment committees to ensure disciplined execution, robust risk management, and consistent value creation for clients.
Prior to assuming responsibility for the SMA function, Mr. Shah led the Research Department at Alfalah Investments, where he supported portfolio management through macroeconomic and investment research and contributed to the firm’s overall investment strategy. He also played a key role in developing analytical frameworks and mentoring research analysts.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Shah gained strong technical expertise in accounting, audit, and financial reporting through his association with leading audit firms, including Deloitte Yousuf Adil and A.F. Ferguson & Co (a member firm of PWC). This background continues to strengthen his investment analysis, valuation discipline, and risk assessment capabilities.
